Turf has become a major part of Colleen’s life and family and she is a pro in the Turf Lifestyle.
Name: Colleen Salvio
Kids: Karly 25
Location: We live in Pittsville Maryland, but the course is in Ocean City, MD
Husband’s Course: Ocean City Golf Club
How do you make time for each other during the busy season?: I sometimes meet him at the course when he’s done on the weekend and we go to Asssateague Island to the beach.
What is the most difficult part of being married to a man of turf?: The schedule of a man of turf is hard to get used to and the profession tends to attract the driven, hard worker. So there is the hours and the extreme level of dedication that is put in.
What is the best part of being married to a man of turf?: I know he is out there doing what he was born to do. I know he loves his work.
Would you encourage your children to follow in their father’s footsteps? Why or why not?: My daughter is 25, so that’s not really a question for me anymore. But her husband is also a MOT at another course, so that makes it difficult to plan “entire family” time.
Is the job ever a source of tension in your house?: I enter sweepstakes and he once told me that if I won a grand prize of a trip, that he would not be able to go, unless it was for the off season!
What do you do for you? How do you make sure you’re taken care of?: I babysit my grandson on a full time basis, recently he has started daycare a couple days a week. I wear a cochlear implant for hearing loss, completely deaf without it in one ear. I sing, take pictures of the gorgeous scenery here and market them online and play guitar. I relax in the evenings with a good book, a magazine, a sitcom here and there, and always, my cats are with me, especially Meelo.
